Master Planning | Landscape Architecture

  • RBT Design’s master planning knowledge is grounded in 25 years’ experience in progressive best practice urban design and landscape architecture, combined with an understanding of development economics that enable triple bottom line outcomes – economic, environmental and social.
  • Master planning involves developing the ‘road map’ for a successful project: ensuring the development yield, roading, infrastructure, open space and landscape components are planned to create a desirable living environment, whether it be a small rural subdivision, a destination resort, or a golf course.
  • RBT Design has master planned a variety of land development projects from boutique rural residential developments, new green field communities, as well as new destination resort development.

Golf Course Architecture

  • RBT Design is a leading consultancy in this niche design space and has worked in golf course design for 25 years designing and planning a number of golf courses in New Zealand.
  • RBT Design offers a fully integrated golf course design service. From site selection and golf course routing plans, to landscape design and clubhouse site planning, RBT Design is also able to provide advice on suppliers and contractors to ensure that the best team is assembled.
  • RBT Design’s wealth of golf course design knowledge and experience stems from designing Clearwater Resort (with John Darby and Sir Bob Charles), Jack’s Point and the Hills (with John Darby), along with the new nine hole course at Omaha Beach Golf Club.
  • The Hills, Clearwater and Jacks Point regularly feature in the top ten golf courses in the country and two of them have been repeat venues for the NZ Open.
  • RBT Design has an ongoing close working relationship with NZ golfing personality and US PGA Tour winner, Phil Tataurangi who partners on projects in an advisory design role. Our most recent projects have been Windross Farm on the outskirts of Auckland and Lochiel Golf Course in Hamilton.
  • RBT Design’s majority shareholder, Brett Thomson, also has a shareholding in a golf course construction company Mahi Tahi Golf Projects with Phil, enabling a total ’turn key’ solution from planning, to design and through to construction.
